IMG_9429Although we are tremendously excited to welcome our first group of tenants into the building, we’d like to point out that you don’t need to be a full-time resident to enjoy a lot of the great benefits of membership within our work community. When designing the space here at the Cooperative Venture Workspace, one of our primary goals was to build a center that would provide valuable resources to ALL businesses, regardless of where they were on the path of growth and evolution. Perhaps you are just starting your business and need a helping hand. Maybe you’re an outside sales professional that needs a local address to help attract more business in this area. Regardless of your personal situation, there are many ways to take advantage of our exciting new facility, even at the introductory level. Here are three of them:

  1. Location, location, location. Ever wonder why some businesses, say, Saks Fifth Avenue, include their location in their name? Fact is, the address of your business is an important part of your identity. Businesses situated within highly desirable and prestigious locations draw on favorable consumer impressions of those areas. If your business is situated in an area known to be upscale, affluent, cultural, or highly educated, these positive attributes are likely to be associated with your business. For Saks, doing business on one of the most iconic streets for high-end shopping in the United States makes a bold statement of their success and cultural prowess. They know the power of location, and they’re not shy to employ it. Furthermore, people are a lot more enticed to do business in an area that they find attractive, safe, and welcoming. Just to paint a mental picture, imagine making an appointment with someone you met online or over the phone. The initial conversation went great, but then you’re invited to their office for a personal consultation. Your GPS leads you to an old, dilapidated building on the outskirts of town. The place feels abandoned, and as you’re getting out of your car you see broken glass all over the ground. If you’re like most people, this is not going to be the most inspiring first impression. You may even run the other way! One of the most powerful features of your virtual membership at COVE is that you can take advantage of the fantastic reputation of Portsmouth AND have access to our brand new, top-of-the-line facilities. Your current and prospective clients will have confidence knowing that you are situated in a vibrant community that is consistently ranked one of the top small cities in America.
  2. Nailing that first meeting. Chances are, when you were creating your business, you put some hard work into designing the look and feel you wanted your new venture to have. You may have even hired a talented graphic designer to create a custom logo and brand identity. It’s likely that you paid good money to build a nice, custom website to show the world what you have to offer. You are starting to attract some good attention. Now the time comes for a face-to-face meeting. But since you don’t have an office, you end up at the neighborhood coffee shop, next to the guy who can’t stop sneezing, and the young mom with the screaming baby. Suddenly, your flashy new website doesn’t matter all that much. Your reputation is quickly heading south. Thankfully, this is a situation that never needs to happen. With a membership at the Cooperative Venture Workspace, you have discounted access to our modern, professional, state-of-the-art conference and meeting rooms. You can confidently walk your client through our impressive new facility, providing a professional and hospitable experience that’s guaranteed to make a knockout first impression.
  3. Access to events, networking, personal development. At the Cooperative Venture Workspace, the opportunity to grow your business extends well past the nine-to-five. We host a variety of events, including networking meetings, informational/educational talks, meet-ups, development seminars, business after hours, and other fun, engaging resources for you to maximize your presence in the business community. Your virtual membership brings you into this bustling community of movers and shakers, and can be used to leverage your success.
