The Cooperative Venture Workspace at 36 Maplewood Avenue in downtown Portsmouth, N.H., is hosting seminar and workshop presentations by its members.

Two upcoming events deal with mobile advertising trends sponsored by Sharper Selling on Sept. 28 and a Creative Photography 101 class put on by Dragonfly Photography Oct. 19 to Dec. 7.

By having these events, the Workspace is extending an outreach to the community and positioning itself to hold other seminars presented by other innovators and thought-leaders throughout the Seacoast community.

Robert Rustici, marketing consultant with Sharper Selling, said the Sept. 28 event will feature Tim Reis, Director of Performance Agencies at Google, in a live webcast from Google HQ. Reis will share the latest mobile trends, research, and insights to help businesses reach customers in all their moments of need. The event begins at 1:30 p.m. at the Workspace on Maplewood Avenue.

“They really have a lot of information about advertising,”said Rustici of Google, “and they’re particularly focused on mobile.”

You can find a Facebook posting about the event and indicate your interest in attending here.

Rachael Kloss Pawlik, founder of Dragonfly Photography, will talk about photo-taking techniques during her eight-week course from Oct. 19 to Dec. 7, each Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

“It’s very hands on,” said Rachael. “I try to teach people through the action of using their cameras.”

She describes the class as “how to document your life more creatively.” She observed that many people spend a lot of money on expensive SLR cameras, but then don’t really know how to get the most from using them. She said her class will cover a variety of topics, from shooting in manual mode to framing pictures in your viewfinder to what ISO means. (Spoiler alert: The lower the ISO number, the less sensitive it is to the light, while a higher ISO number increases the sensitivity of your camera.)

The class has room for six people. Email her (dragonflyshots@gmail.com) to sign up.

Her membership at the Workspace has allowed her to teach these kinds of classes twice a year.

The events list at the Workspace was led off Sept. 13 by Workspace member Coco, Early & Associates with a free home buying seminar for active duty military, reserves, veterans, and their families. Among the topics the seminar covered were: How to determine if you are eligible for a VA loan, how to buy a home with no down payment, VA loan benefits versus a conventional mortgage, and an overview of the home buying process.

Watch this space for future notices about events, not only from the talented Workspace members, but from others in the community as well.
