The fact that they are busy and on the move so much makes Jon and Allyson appreciate the use and amenities the Cooperative Venture Workspace provides at 36 Maplewood Avenue, Portsmouth.

“We love it here,” said Jon. “It’s been the best thing.”
As a working mother, making efficient use of her time is important to Allyson.
“The Workspace has been very convenient for me in terms of being able to get my work done,” said Allyson.
Their JAK Real Estate is a property and management company that Jon and Allyson founded in 2006. Their work is concentrated primarily in Colorado and Nebraska, according to Jon.
They are based during most of the year in Castle Pines, Colo., located about 30 miles south of Denver. They spend their summers in Rye.
Technology allows them to be mobile with their business as they use the Workspace high-speed internet connections to aid in their managing of emails, scheduling and e-documents key to their business.
“That’s how it works for us to spend our summers here,” said Jon.
Their children – Kate, 6, Molly, 3, and Jonny, 3 months — consume a lot of their time at home, so a place to get away to do their work — especially when the pace gets a little frantic — is an important consideration.
“Sometimes, it can feel a little too busy, but I like it here because the office is very calm,” said Allyson.
“We needed a place to get out of the house, and this worked perfect,” said Jon.
They’ve long been involved in real estate. “We’ve always been a part of it,” said Jon, reflecting on how they’ve seen the real estate industry change through the recession that started in 2008 to the burgeoning real estate market today.
“There’s a lot of opportunity right now,” said Jon. “There’s a lot of people buying, and there’s a lot of high demand right now.”
